Trail Therapy to provide
Mental Health Support

The majority of children in South Africa do not have the opportunity to ride a bike on amazing single tracks in the mountains. Children face numerous difficulties that negatively impacts their mental state. Whilst South Africa does not have enough resources to provide required care to these individual, community based approaches is the best solution to support the youth of today.

Using the sport of mountain biking to engage with the youth, the flow of riding a bike provides a release to their daily challenges. The coaches are mentors to provide emotional support when required, teaching the kids mindfulness techniques enables them to better deal with their emotions

What impact does bikes have on kids?

  • Strengthens emotional wellness by building self-confidence
  • Relieves stress by participating in a technically challenging activity
  •  Enhances socialising skills by sharing a new passion with friends
  • Strengthens the heart helps reduces the chance of Noncumical diseases
  • Builds muscle mass throughout the entire body.
  • The mental aspect exercises the brain to improve cognitive function and problem-solving skills.
  • Reduces depression and hyperactivity by being in nature and focusing on a single task
  • Teaches patience and consistent by practising a single skill.

"I feel very happy when I’m in nature doing trail therapy because I learn more things, and I have fun with other kids.” - Alive, 2021
